Column Separation Current graphic technology, concentrates heavily upon "Raster" or bitmap graphics, which define each pixel on the graphic matrix.

Such graphics are populated by the GIF, JPG and PNG formats in particular. PNG (Portable Network Graphics) graphics can be compressed and then decompressed without loss of pixel information, are were originally designed to supersede GIF's.

Raster graphic files by their definition of each pixel, are relatively large files, the graphics lose definition when enlarged, and are "unintelligent" in that they cannot display any information other than their static initial information, and they can not be searched upon for patterns.

Research continues into the delivery of graphics in a low bandwidth environment, with particular emphasis upon graphics which, apart from being quick to download, can be animated, display and interpret raw data fed to them, and can be scaled and printed.
